To correct these errors, if you have an installation disc that is associated with the MSI file, insert the disc and click OK. If the error persists, you can search for and browse to the file on your hard drive or reinstall the entire software package. Instead, reinstall the entire software package that is associated with the MSI file.

Preventing MSI errors To prevent these errors from occurring, make sure that registry cleaning and spyware removal utilities do not remove files and registry entries associated with your software.

Instead, if you no longer use a particular software title and want to remove all references from the registry, remove the software by using the Add or Remove Programs tool in Control Panel. The software uninstaller will remove the associated entries from the registry. Some products available for free on the Internet suggest that the registry needs regular maintenance or cleaning. Many registry cleaners generate other MSI errors because they do not recognize valid registry entries and delete them. This can cause more MSI errors and prevent other programs from working. If you do decide to install a registry cleaner, be sure to research the product thoroughly, and then download and install programs only from software publishers that you trust.

Hope this helps you, and have a great day! View solution in original post. I see that you are getting a message that you are missing TrayApp.

I am happy to help you with this issue! Also, what version of Windows are you using? Which Windows operating system am I running? Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting! I've run the diagnostic tool, which found nothing wrong with the setup of the Officejet Pro.

Wasn't suprised by that really as it appears that this error is being caused by something that hasn't been properly removed when I unistalled the old Photosmart printer drivers. Hope this helps, and have a great day!

Following your first link and downloading the driver for the old printer Photosmart which I've saved to a specific folder - this is just one. Is it safe to use the installation CD that came with the new printer - I don't want to uninstall anything related to the new one as it all works perfectly? That seems to have worked, thanks for the help. At about the same time I installed the additional software for the HP , I uninstalled software for a previous printer I had linked to the computer.
